A pre-purchase survey from a certified marine surveyor is strongly recommended for any used boat purchase — surveyors routinely surface osmotic blistering, hidden transom rot, and electrical faults that are invisible at dockside. Slip or dry-storage fees, winterization, and annual engine service add meaningfully to the cost of ownership, so verify what those run in your area before making a final budget decision between these two models.
